Network Engineering

An ongoing software-defined network on a single Proxmox host, with pfSense routing between VLAN-isolated zones that each have their own subnet, firewall rules, and DHCP scope. I built the segmentation after realizing a flat subnet let traffic skip the firewall entirely. Firewall logs feed a Wazuh SIEM, and I'm still adding to it, with every break and fix on the blog.

Network Automation

Started with a $20 switch that turned out to have no CLI at all. Ended with two virtual Cisco switches, a Docker router, and a full config-as-code pipeline: VLANs and trunking declared in YAML, rendered with Jinja2, pushed over SSH with Nornir, and validated by reading the live device state back after every push.

Network Resilience

Two HAProxy nodes on Proxmox share a floating IP through keepalived/VRRP and spread traffic across two backend servers with active health checks. I tested failover four different ways, from a graceful shutdown to a hard power-off to killing HAProxy itself, with a Python probe script counting dropped requests and timing recovery for each.

Network Security

A Python tool that audits Cisco IOS devices against the CIS Benchmark. It connects over SSH, pulls each device's running config, and checks 21 controls covering authentication hardening, encrypted management access, session controls, and logging. Every device gets its own compliance report, with findings ranked by severity and the steps to fix each one.

Machine Learning

A fantasy football advisor running on the live NFL season. Four XGBoost models trained on 2021-2025 data weigh Vegas lines, matchups, snap share, and red zone usage, check the injury report, and explain each start/sit call in plain English. 74-76% start/sit accuracy (WR/RB) on a season it never trained on.
